Infected Foot

Well, today I am supposed to be at work. Instead, I am at home on the couch watching TV. I got a preatty bad blister a couple of weeks ago and it turned into a big old infection. I went to the doctor yesterday in fear that they would admit me for IV antibiotics. Instead she told me I was not supposed to walk on it, no working, soak it 4 times a day, and come back in a week for a follow up appointment. The part that made me the maddest is no running for at least one week :(. I have to say that there is no way I could run, I can barely put pressure on it and am resorting to crawling to get anywhere. My ankle looks like a large brick, red and swollen. It throbs like crazy and I have pain shooting up my calf. I think I am going to give Ryan a heart attack by the end of this ordeal. He woke me up a thousand times last night asking me if I was ok. The moral of the story... take care of your blisters! Given my occupation, you would think I would do a better job at it. Oh well, lesson learned!

First Day of School

Today was Abby's first day of Pre-K. She is going to Gray Rd. Christian School again and will go every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. She was a little nervous at first, but after meeting her teacher on Friday, she felt a little better. Most of the kids in her class are the same that were in it last year. We went out yesterday and got her a new back to school outfit, bracelet, and even underwear. Aunt Sarah painted her toes and fingernails. Drop off on the first day is hilarious! You would think it was their wedding day. Cameras are flashing everywhere, there are lots of tears and hugs! The entire morning Claire said "Abby, Abby, Abby?" She did not understand why she was not here to play with her. She was very excited when we picked her up. Abby came home full of tales from the day. I swear she grew up 10 years in one day. (just like Noah on young and the restless who came back from summer camp all grown up :)) We miss her but I really enjoy the morning with just Claire!

Here she is sporting her new Hello Kitty backpack (wet hair and all). The picture below is her buddy Lainey. Lainey and Abby have been in a playgroup together since before they were one. Don't they look like little teenagers?

French Lick

Sunday was our 6th anniversary, so we decided to go down to French Lick for the weekend. We had a great weekend! It was so nice to get away without any kids and have some uninterrupted adult conversation. We stopped at the Edinburgh outlet malls on the way down, it was about 2 hours from there. When we got there we took a little tour of the hotel. The 2 hotels are amazing! We worked out in the gym then went to the pool for the rest of the afternoon. It is funny how hard it is to just sit somewhere without the girls. But, after my pina colada , I was chilled enough to lay there for hours. After the pool, we went to the steak house for dinner then hit the casino. Neither of us had ever been gambling and were excited to give it a try. It was a fun, but I have to say, 2 people that are as cheap as we are were not meant to be gamblers. My first shot at the slot machines I won 10 dollars and I was ready to call it a night. I mean seriously, that is two caramel macchiatos at starbucks. I forced myself to continue on and it was all down hill from there. I lost everything I had brought. (a whole $30). The picture below was taken at the casino. As soon as Ryan took it we were swarmed by three workers who almost took it away. I am not really sure what kind of "casino secrets" we could have taken with us, but whatever. Don't I look like a great slot machine player. I could turn it into an Olympic sport!

Abigail the photographer

When I uploaded all of the pictures today, I noticed some random ones. Upon further investigation, I figured out that Abby had snuck my camera and took some pictures. I got a kick out of what she chose to take and thought I would share them with you. I think maybe we are going to have a career change, no more beautician (notice the VERY short bangs that she decided to cut herself).

Rainy day fun

Today it poured all day. I LOVE the rain! It gives us a good excuse to stay home all day and play inside. We played with every single toy in the whole house, played with play dough, painted, ect,. The girls love to make a fort under the dining room table. We pile blankets on top and turn off the lights (extravagant I know). We told stories and read books. It all ended when Abby banged her head on the table. The girls are at such a fun age! It is so nice to be able to do activities with both of them together. What a great day!!

The Children's Museum

Here are a few pictures from the Children's museum last week. The girls had a good time. Ryan's teacher's gave us a pass and we use it all of the time. It is fun to go there on a day that the girls are bored and go to playscapes. It is an area for younger kids with lots of stuff to play with. The girls would play in there all day. Claire is especially interested in the sand table. She loves to scoop and dump. I wonder what that could translate into for a career?

Retraction

Ryan came home from work on Friday and the house was a disaster, I mean crazy messy! He was very annoyed and after a discussion about it, he informed me that he was annoyed because of the last sentence of my post "it couldn't last forever." In the post, I stated that now that he went back to school, my house could go back to being clean. Yes Ryan, I was wrong, I am apologetic :)!
